Recently I had the opportunity to meet with a group of HR leaders at a Barcamp in Zürich. My discussion topic was about how to deal with the #newwork changes in the industry without upsetting the current middle-managers. Changes to hierarchies and leadership structures lead to a more flexible leadership style. Leaders are required at all stages, but maybe they are not the same leaders at all stages. What makes sense on paper, does, however, pose a threat to current managers on many levels. While we did not come to a conclusion in our discussion, we all recognised the importance of the problem. This discussion is definitely to be continued.
